BEVERLY HILLS, CA, NOVEMBER 04, (THEWILL) – Five of the seven State Governors that make up the G-7 Governors met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo early Monday afternoon in his Abeokuta, Ogun State residence, where they deliberated behind closed doors.
The governors, who belong to the faction of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chaired by Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, met with the former president for about 2-hours.
The governors are: Mr. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers State); Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu (Niger State); Engr. Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano State); Dr. Sule Lamido (Jigawa State) and Retired Admiral Murtala Nyako (Adamawa State).
The Governors of Kwara, Mr. Abdulfatah Ahmed and Sokoto State Governor, Mr. Aliyu Wamakko did attend the meeting.
Recall that the meeting of the faction, which calls itself the New PDP, at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja on Sunday evening, was disrupted by the police.
At the end of the Monday’s meeting, the governors told reporters that the meeting was part of consultations with Obasanjo as speculations continue to thrive that they have perfected plans to dump the ruling party for main opposition party All Progressive Congress (APC).
