June 01, (THEWILL) – The finalists for the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Young Player of the Year award for men in 2022/23 have been announced, with the shortlist consisting solely of Englishmen.
Phil Foden, the winner of the award last year, is the front-runner after playing a major role in Manchester City’s second consecutive English Premier League title win in 2021-22. Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe also featured as both were again remarkable for Arsenal. The Gunners clinched a return to European competition for next season after narrowly missing out on a Champions League spot.
Also, despite missing a big amount of the season due to injury, Chelsea’s Reece James was included. Conor Gallagher, a fellow Blues Academy alumnus, who had a breakthrough season on loan with Crystal Palace, is also on the list.
