BEVERLY HILLS, January 26, (THEWILL) – The immediate past governor of Edo State, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, yesterday declared his readiness to return to Government House in Benin, debunking the perception that only a Bini man (Edo South) can win this year’s governorship election.

Osunbor, who is running on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is from Edo Central senatorial zone of the state. He had been in the Peoples Democratic Party, on whose platform he briefly served as Governor.

But during an interaction with newsmen at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, secretariat in Benin City, the Professor of Law urged delegates of the party to be wary of moneybag-aspirants.

He explained that he had been quiet on his ambition due to Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s instruction that governorship aspirants must not distract his developmental projects.

According to him, “I am not unmindful of arguments about which senatorial zone’s turn it is to produce the next governor.

“I believe that this is a legitimate issue to raise in order to ensure fairness, equity and justice amongst the component parts of the state, Edo South, Edo Central and Edo North.

“I want to be assessed based on my antecedents and record of performance rather than simply on arguments based on zoning.”
