Jaden Philogene

January 16, (THEWILL) – Ipswich Town have completed the signing of Jaden Philogene from Aston Villa for a reported £20 million transfer fee. The winger finalised his move to Portman Road on Wednesday, committing to a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Championship club.

The 22-year-old midfielder joins Ipswich following a brief return to Villa Park, where he made 15 appearances across all competitions during the first half of the 2024/2025 season. His time under manager Unai Emery included four starts, though he did not register any goals or assists during this period.

Philogene’s previous Championship experience includes an impressive spell at Hull City during the 2022-23 campaign. Despite missing nine matches due to a knee injury, he contributed significantly with 12 goals and six assists in 32 appearances. His statistical impact extended beyond goal contributions, leading his Hull teammates with 87 completed dribbles and 52 chances created.

Upon joining Ipswich Town, Philogene stated: “I’m excited to be here, and I know there are great players in the squad. I just want to play much football. I like to dribble and link up play and provide goals and assists. I’m looking forward to it.”

The transfer is a significant investment for Ipswich Town, who continue to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window. Philogene becomes the second addition this month, following the arrival of Ben Godfrey on a six-month loan arrangement from Atalanta.
