Four Dead, Others Injured In Ogun Auto Crash

May 26, (THEWILL)- Four persons have been confirmed dead and four others injured in an auto crash along Sagamu-Ikorodu road in Ogun State.

The crash, which involved a wine-coloured Toyota Sienna with registration number LND945EL and a white Convoy bus with registration number AKD232XV, occurred at 12:40 pm on Sunday.

Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Sunday.

Okpe said eight persons (six male adults, one female and a female child) were involved in the accident, adding that while four persons (all male adults) sustained injuries, the remaining four (two male adults, one female adult and a female child) died on the spot.

She said the cause of the crash was due to excessive speed and wrongful overtaking which led to the rear collision of the two vehicles.

Okpe said that the injured victims had been taken to Dasochris Hospital, Gbaga, Ogijo, while the families of the dead took custody of the corpses.

The Sector Commander, Ogun Sector Command,  CC Anthony Uga, sympathised with the families of the victims.

Uga advised motorists to desist from overspeeding and give total attention to driving to know when to overtake. He further urged motorists to ensure road markings on overtaking are obeyed.
