May 08, (THEWILL) – Fulham won a thrilling match at Craven Cottage against Leicester City that saw no less than nine goals scored between both sides and two penalties of different results for a 5-3 scoreline.
The Whites put on an impressive attacking display, with braces from Brazilian Willian and Tom Cairney, and a goal from Carlos Vinicius. Leicester City also put up a fight, with two goals from Harvey Barnes and a James Maddison penalty in the second half, but it was not enough to secure a draw.
The Whites took an early lead through a set-piece, with a curling delivery from Willian that found the back of the net. Fulham then doubled their lead through a well-timed run by Vinicius, who calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper. The Whites went into half-time with a comfortable 3-0 lead, after Cairney’s exquisite finish on his rarely-used right foot.
Leicester City fought back in the second half, with Barnes scoring twice and Maddison converting a penalty after an earlier one by Jamie Vardy was stopped by Bernd Leno. Fulham continued to attack, with a stunning long-range goal from Willian and a well-placed finish from Cairney. Despite a late goal from Barnes, Fulham held on to secure the win.
Fulham’s next match is against Southampton on Saturday, while Leicester City will face Liverpool on Monday.
