October 10, (THEWILL) – Fulham are reportedly keen on pursuing a deal for Nigerian striker, Gift Orban, in the January transfer window, as they look to find a replacement for Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Cottagers reportedly want to bring in the Gent forward who was linked with Tottenham Hotspur in the summer. Fulham had signed Raul Jimenez to replace Mitrovic but the Mexican has struggled to make an impact, failing to score in his 8 appearances so far.

Orban was seen as a potential replacement for Harry Kane at Spurs but Gent’s high valuation meant a deal never materialised. With Spurs top of the English Premier League and scoring freely, it remains to be seen if they retain interest in Orban.

The 21-year-old has gone through a dry spell in front of goal himself, not scoring a league goal since August. However, his record of 26 goals in 36 games for Gent shows he has the innate quality to craft goals in good numbers.

Orban has been omitted from Nigeria’s squad for their October internationals against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in the face of a plethora of striker options for the Super Eagles.
