March 07, (THEWILL) – Tyson Fury has stated he is ready for “blood everywhere” when he faces Oleksandr Usyk in their rescheduled undisputed world heavyweight title fight on May 18.
The British boxer suffered a cut above his right eye in sparring, forcing a postponement from the original February 17 date in Saudi Arabia. However, the WBC champion is unfazed by the injury setback.
“If it opens in the fight, there will be blood everywhere and so what?” Fury told DAZN. “Don’t stop the fight. Let it continue because it’s an undisputed heavyweight championship fight.”
The 35-year-old remained supremely confident of victory over the Ukrainian who holds the WBA, IBF and WBO belts. “This is the fight of the ages, nothing can compare with this”, he stated. “Whoever wins out of me and Usyk is the best of this era regardless of what anyone’s opinion is.”
The winner is expected to face either Anthony Joshua or Francis Ngannou next. Fury also talked up a potential all-British fight with Joshua if the former champion beats Ngannou. “It sets up a big British fight for me and him”, he said.
