October 13, (THEWILL) – Former Paris Saint-Germain manager, Christopher Galtier, hs, made a quick return to football, taking charge of Qatari side Al Duhail just three months after leaving the French champions.
The 57-year-old led PSG to the Ligue 1 title last season but departed after a disappointing second half of the campaign. Galtier’s final weeks at PSG were overshadowed by racism allegations relating to his previous role at Nice. He strongly denies the claims but is due to stand trial in December.
At Al Duhail, Galtier takes over a squad boasting the presence of former Liverpool and Barcelona midfielder, Philippe Coutinho. The manager replaces Hernan Crespo, who won the league last term before leaving the club.
Galtier’s first test will be facing Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr in the Asian Champions League group stage later this month. Al Duhail have just one point from their opening two matches in the competition.
