November 17, (THEWILL) – Gary Hoffman, the Premier League’s chairman, has resigned, according to the league.
Hoffman has departed his position with the top tier, as THEWILL reported on Tuesday. It came after certain Premier League clubs wanted Hoffman to resign from the league last month.
Hoffman will now step down at the end of January 2022.
In making this public, Hoffman remarked: “It has been a privilege to lead the Premier League through the last two seasons – when the spirit of English football has been more important than ever.
“Now, I have decided the time is right for me to stand aside to allow new leadership to steer the league through its next exciting phase.”
Hoffman was just appointed in April 2020, but over a tumultuous 18 months, he is believed to have failed to gain favour in his short time as chairman as THEWILL reported.
