June 03, (THEWILL) – American teenager, Coco Gauff, has reached the finals of both the women’s doubles and singles events at the French Open to cap a good run at Roland Garros.
Gauff got to the doubles final with compatriot Jessica Pegula on Friday, a day after she booked a singles final ticket where she will face world number one Iga Swiatek in the final on Saturday.
Pegula and Gauff defeated fellow Americans Madison Keys and Taylor Townsend, 6-4 7-6 (7-4) to reach the doubles final on the clay. Gauff, who is 18, is playing in her maiden Grand Slam singles final after finishing second in the US Open doubles final in 2021.
The American will be trailing the path of Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic, who became the first woman and the eighth overall player to win the singles and doubles titles at Roland Garros since 2000, when she clinched both last year.
Gauff and Pegula will play the winners of the other semi-final, which pits Lyudmyla Kichenok of Ukraine and Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia against Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic of France.
