December 26, (THEWILL) –Â On Friday, at the Trust Sport Emporium in Accra, Ghana won the African Basketball Festival Tournament with a spectacular 33-32 victory over a tenacious Nigerian side.
The thrilling game, which featured teams of selected players of Ghanaian and Nigerian origin, who reside in Ghana, was played under the floodlights of the Bukom Boxing Arena of the Emporium, as the young Ghanaian team was able to hold the lead and defeat its West African rivals by one point with the help of their counterattacks.
The festival was organised by RITE Sports, under the auspices of the Beyond the Return Committee, as THEWILL previously noted. The winners of the games have pledged to generously donate their earnings to an orphanage of their choice.
The victors received their certificates and trophy from Professor Azumah Nelson and Mr. Kyei, a Glico official.
