March 06, Olivier Giroud missed training alongside the rest of his AC Milan teammates at Milanello this morning due to a bout of the flu.
The Frenchman’s absence comes just ahead of the team’s crucial second-leg match against Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, which they are set to play on Tuesday afternoon, in London.
Reports monitored by THEWILL state that Giroud had been experiencing symptoms during the team’s recent loss to Fiorentina over the weekend. While he is said to be recovering, there are still doubts as to whether he will be fit enough to start the game against Tottenham.
Despite Giroud’s uncertain fitness, Milan Coach, Stefano Pioli, is reportedly considering bringing him along for the match in the hopes that he may be able to contribute. If Giroud is unable to play, the team will likely turn to Ante Rebic, Divock Origi, or Charles De Ketelaere to lead the front line in his absence.
