February 11, (THEWILL) – Milan ended their five-game winless streak in Serie A with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Torino on Friday night.
The Rossoneri, playing their 3,000th Serie A match, were fuelled by Olivier Giroud’s superb header that sealed the win for the home team. Theo Hernandez played a crucial role in the goal, setting it up with a cross, but missed a golden chance to double Milan’s lead later in the game.
In a match filled with anticipation, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was making a comeback from injury, was poised on the Milan bench. However, the veteran forward did not make an appearance during the game. Hernandez had a chance to settle the nerves for Milan in the 76th minute, but he drilled wide of a gaping goal.
Despite this missed opportunity, Milan held on for the win, extending their unbeaten home run against Torino to 27 Serie A matches. The Rossoneri will return to UEFA Champions League action against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday, while Torino will play Cremonese on February 20.
