
December 04, (THEWILL) – Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has presented a N1.055 trillion budget proposal for the 2025 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.
Tagged the “Budget of Hope and Prosperity,” the governor emphasised that the proposal is designed to tackle the state’s economic challenges, reduce inequality, and enhance the well-being of citizens.
Addressing lawmakers at the Assembly Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, on Wednesday, Abiodun stated that the budget seeks to strike a balance between fiscal responsibility and enhanced public service delivery.
The proposed budget allocates N453.56 billion to recurrent expenditure and N600.98 billion to capital expenditure.
Key highlights include personnel costs – N120.14 billion, consolidated revenue cost – N37.49 billion, public debt charges- N76.07 billion and overhead cost N219.86 billion
The governor expressed optimism about the potential impact of the budget, stating, “With determination and confidence, we will advance growth and prosperity in Ogun State, creating the foundation for sustainable development.”
Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, commended the governor for renovating the Assembly Complex and promised that the appropriation bill would receive accelerated consideration.
He also highlighted the Assembly’s legislative achievements, including the passage of nine bills and 32 motions during the year.
