July 27, (THEWILL) – The Governor of Ebonyi state, Engr David Umahi, has expressed hope in the future greatness of Nigeria, if only the younger generation could be moulded correctly.
Addressing the pupils and students of Handmaid International Nursery and Primary School, Azuiyiokwu, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Umahi showered encomiums on the school management for the wonderful performance of the pupils during the graduation ceremony.
He congratulated the graduands for distinguishing themselves in character and learning, in the course of their academic journey.
Governor Umahi, who was accompanied to the event by his dear wife, Rachel and senior government officials, lauded the school authority and teaching staff for quality teaching and learning and called on the Pupils to continue to make their parents and Ebonyi State proud.
“Let me say that I am very delighted to be here with very senior Government Officials, I am indeed very happy to be here.
“I can tell you that this is a tonic, you begin to wonder whether these children are schooling in London, the accent is something else and I can tell you that their grammar can challenge most of our graduates, some cannot match it.
“When you see the performances of these children, you see that there is hope for this country, which must not be destroyed by anybody.
“If Nigeria can get itself right, Africa will stand and will be standing strong.
“The future of these children must not be truncated by policies or the School teachers, the legacies we will leave are the sacrifices, the selflessness we deploy in the service of God. A lot of us make so many mistakes because we fail to realise the purpose for which we were born.
“To the parents I commend you highly and congratulate you, we have hope in these children.
“I am very proud of you all, I congratulate and commend you into the hands of God and I pray you grow to become responsible leaders of this country to right the wrongs of our leaders.”
Chairman of the Occasion, Dr Donatus Egwu, congratulated the graduands for successfully completing their academic programme and urged them to continue to make the school proud in their next phase of academic pursuit.
He commended the parents of the graduands especially Governor David Nweze Umahi, for coming to celebrate with the school on the occasion of their 2022 graduation ceremony.
In her Valedictory Speech, Little Miss Umahi Nweze Heaven Joesy, thanked the school for imparting in them quality education and pledged that they will remain good ambassadors of the Institution.
“The activities of this great Institution will ever remain fresh and evergreen in our memories. Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus International have laid solid academic and social foundations for us and so, we are not afraid of the future in our individual life endeavours.”
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the award of Neatest Girl to Umahi Nweze Heaven Joesy, daughter of the Governor by the School Authority.
Governor David Nweze Umahi announced automatic scholarships to pupils who got different awards in the school into the King David Gifted Academy, Abakaliki.
