June 21, (THEWILL) – Marina Granovskaia, iconic club director at Chelsea, is expected to quit the English Premier League side this week in another sign of managerial shakeup at Stamford Bridge.
As the club’s new management takes shape, Granovskaia, who has served at Chelsea since 2003, will follow chairman Bruce Buck out of the London side with the management currently finalising her departure. The vacuum left with the exit of Buck and Granovskaia will be filled by new co-owner Todd Boehly.
In recent years, Granovskaia served as Chelsea’s principal transfer negotiator under Roman Abramovich after the Russian-Canadian business executive joined Chelsea’s board of directors in June 2013. In 2014, she was promoted to Chief Executive Officer.
Earlier on Monday, Buck revealed that he will be stepping down as chairman after serving the club in that capacity since 2003. Buck was grateful to Boehly, who completed his takeover of the club last month, commended Buck, and noted that it was the “right time to step down.”
Since Abramovich bought the club in 2003, the 76-year-old has served as chairman. He will continue to serve as a senior advisor.
