August 15, (THEWILL) – The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau has reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to promptly settling the outstanding bonuses and allowances owed to the Super Falcons players.
In his address at the reception of the team by the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, Gusau thanked her for the assistance she provided to the Super Falcons squad before, during and after their performance at the recent Women’s World Cup. He also commended the resolute dedication exhibited by the team throughout the global tournament, acknowledging the challenges they faced leading up to the competition, including disputes over wages and allowances.
The NFF President elaborated that owing to the team’s remarkable achievement in reaching the round of 16, each player will receive a sum of $60,000. He highlighted the NFF’s initial hopes for the squad to progress even further in the tournament to enable the players to earn more substantial financial rewards, which he said they truly deserve.
Gusau further emphasised the NFF’s commitment to fulfilling its promise and ensuring that hardworking athletes receive their due payments in a timely manner. “I want to assure that the players and officials will be paid all their entitlements as soon as we receive the World Cup money from FIFA,” he promised.
