June 02, (THEWILL) – Norwegian striker, Erling Haaland, is determined to cement his place in Manchester City’s history books as he looks to secure two more trophies and complete a remarkable debut season.
Haaland, who was signed from Borussia Dortmund last summer, has enjoyed a resounding success in English football, scoring a staggering 58 goals in 57 games across all competitions. His goal-scoring prowess has propelled City to the English Premier League title and the finals of both the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking recently, Haaland said of the reality of victory: “This is why they bought me of course, to get this, we don’t have to hide that. It would mean everything. I will do everything I possibly can to try to make it happen. It’s my biggest dream and hopefully, dreams do come true.” If City triumphs in both finals, they will become the first English club since Manchester United in 1999 to achieve the historic feat of winning the league, FA Cup, and UCL in a single season.
Haaland acknowledges the challenges that lie ahead, as City faces Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium before their clash with Inter Milan in the UCL final in Istanbul. “It would be unreal to make this history,” said Haaland. “It’s not easy, it’s two finals against two good teams that will do everything they can to try to destroy that. They will be motivated, they will be ready, and we have to play at our best because if we play at our best, we have a really good chance of achieving exactly that.”
The 22-year-old striker has not only become a key player for City but also a household name in the football world. Reflecting on his newfound fame, Haaland mentioned: “My life has changed, of course. I can’t live so normally anymore. That’s how my life is, I can’t complain. I try to enjoy every single moment of it and that’s how it is. There’s nothing I can do, that’s my life. I just have to try to enjoy it as much as I can. Try to relax when I’m home with good people around me, that’s really important. Just try to enjoy my life.”
