October 31, (THEWILL) – Saudi Arabian football giants Al Ittihad claimed an emphatic 3-0 away victory against Al Fayha on Tuesday evening.
The visitors took an early lead in the 5th minute through Abderrazak Hamdallah, who finished off a pass from Romarinho. Al Fayha responded brightly and saw more of the ball early on, but were unable to capitalise on their possession. The remainder of the first half saw chances limited for both sides.
After the interval, Al Ittihad doubled their advantage in the 87th minute when Hamdallah grabbed his second of the match following good work from Farhan. The game was put beyond doubt in the 93rd minute as Karim Benzema sealed the win, slotting home to make it 3-0.
Despite late pressure, Al Fayha were unable to find a consolation goal. The win sees Al Ittihad strengthen their position in the Round of 16 of the King’s Cup competition.
Al Fayha, featuring Nigerian players Henry Onyekwuru and Anthony Nwakaeme and Zambian forward Fashion Sakala, will now turn their focus back to action in the Saudi Pro League where Al Taee await for their Friday tie.
