December 13, (THEWILL) – Harnaaz Sandhu of India has been crowned Miss Universe 2021 after defeating 79 other contestants.
Sandhu was crowned Miss Universe in the Israeli city of Eilat on Monday morning.
The 21-year-old was handed the crown by her successor, Miss Universe 2021, Andrea Mez.
Speaking on stage during the pageant, Sandhu urged young people to “know that you are unique and that’s what makes you beautiful, stop comparing yourself to others. I believed in myself, and that’s why I’m standing here today,” she added, to loud cheering from the audience.
THEWILL writes that Nadia Ferreira emerged the first runner-up, while Miss South Africa, Lalela Mswane emerged second runner-up.
Maristella Okpala, who represented Nigeria, was awarded the Best in National Costume.
