SAN FRANCISCO, January 10, (THEWILL) – American actor and former governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, says President Donald Trump will be remembered as the “worst president ever.”
The Terminator actor released a video on Sunday where he berated supporters of President Trump for attacking the Capitol and he compared the Capitol riots to the Night of Broken Glass.
Speaking about his childhood in Austria, Schwarzenegger disclosed that that he grew up with the lasting impact of Kristallnacht, describing it as “a night of rampage against the Jews carried out in 1938 by the Nazi equivalent of the Proud Boys”.
He said: “Wednesday was the Day of Broken Glass right here in the United States but the mob did not just shatter the windows of the Capitol. They shattered the ideas we took for granted [and] trampled the very principles on which our country was founded.”
The actor also cautioned Americans to be “aware of the dire consequences of selfishness and cynicism” and he also berated president Trump.
He added: “He sought a coup by misleading people with lies,” he said. “President Trump is a failed leader. He will go down in history as the worst president ever. The good thing is he will soon be as irrelevant as an old tweet.”
Schwarzenegger also berated members of the Republican Party, of which he is a member, who “enabled [Trump’s] lies and his treachery” as he quoted Teddy Roosevelt: “Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president.”
The veteran actor ended the video by wishing Biden “great success” when he assumes office.
