July 22, (THEWILL) – Big Brother Naija former housemate, Boma Akpore, aka Boma, has recounted how be battled an infection that almost made him blind and nearly damaged his brain.
The actor cum model posted pictures of himself on hospital bed and the scan taken during his ordeal.
According to him, in December, 2020, he had COVID-19, which led to serious sinus infection.
He got so busy in the process, attending movie sets and later went for Big Brother Naija, BBN reality show.
He later returned to New York, but the sinus hadn’t given him any relief one year after.
He had to see a doctor and he got an unpleasant report about his health. Half of his nostril was already blocked, the blocked part was quite close to the brain.
A surgery was recommended and was booked for April, but he had to be on location and he shifted the surgery.
From location, he went for the BBN reunion. After the reunion, he went back to New York for his surgery.
He was told by doctors that the infection had spread to the back of his brain and it could either damage his brain or make him blind.
He was booked for a surgery again and it started by 6.30am and was done by 12 noon.
He didn’t wake up until three hours later, which got everyone scared.
He thanked God for his life and the success of the surgery, as he was able to return to the gym on Wednesday after two months of being away receiving treatment.
He is also planning to return to work fully. He advised that people should visit their doctors anytime they notice any unusual feelings.
He appreciated his friends and those who took care of him at the time he was down.
