January 03, (THEWILL) – Cristiano Ronaldo has no clause in his Al Nassr contract that would allow him to join Newcastle United if the team qualifies for the Champions League, according to Newcastle head coach, Eddie Howe.
There were reports on Monday, that Ronaldo had asked to be allowed to return to the Premier League with Newcastle if they finished in the top four this season, but Howe denied these reports.
In his pre-match presser before the tie against Arsenal, Howe said: “We wish Cristiano all the best in his venture, but from our point of view there’s no truth in that.”
Ronaldo, who has won the UEFA Champions League once with Manchester United and four times with Real Madrid, effectively confirmed that he will not join another European club before retiring at a press conference on Tuesday. “In Europe, my work is done,” he said.
Ronaldo is set to make his debut for Al Nassr against Al Tai on Thursday.
