April 05, (THEWILL) – Newcastle United delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday night as they cruised to a 5-1 victory against West Ham United in the English Premier League.

The Magpies, who were in third place at the start of the game, justified Eddie Howe’s decision to rotate his squad as two of his changes found the back of the net. Callum Wilson’s brace on either side of half-time, two more from Joelinton and a further strike from Alexander Isak completed the rout.

Allan Saint-Maximin’s superb cross found Wilson inside the area after just six minutes to open the scoring. Joelinton added another in the 13th minute before West Ham’s Kurt Zouma headed in from a corner.

But Wilson soon restored Newcastle’s two-goal cushion just 20 seconds after the interval. Jacob Murphy then set up Isak to score his team’s fourth after a howler by West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski. Joelinton rounded off the scoring in the dying stages with a stunning run and finish.

The result leaves Newcastle United in third place, 11 points behind Manchester City, while West Ham are 15th. The Magpies will look to maintain their impressive form when they face Brentford in their next fixture, while West Ham will be looking to ease the pressure on David Moyes when they take on Fulham on Saturday.
