September 18, (THEWILL) – Nottingham Forest’s new signing, Callum Hudson-Odoi, announced his intent in style by scoring a brilliant equaliser to earn his side a 1-1 draw with Burnley on Monday night.
The 22-year-old winger, who arrived at the City Ground on deadline day on loan from Chelsea, curled in a superb 20-yard effort in the 64th minute to cancel out Burnley’s first half opener from Zeki Amdouni.
It was Hudson-Odoi’s first English Premier League appearance since January 2022 after falling out of favour at Chelsea, but he looked reinvigorated and lively on his Nottingham Forest debut and linked up well with Nigerian striker and teammate Taiwo Awoniyi.
Burnley had taken the lead just before half-time when Amdouni finished off a flowing move, but Vincent Kompany’s charges failed to hold on to their advantage against an energetic Forest side that was turbo-charged by the full weight of home crowd support. The visitors thought they had won it late on through substitute Lyle Foster but his goal was ruled out by VAR for a handball in the build up.
To make matters worse, Foster was then shown a red card for an unnecessary and uncalled for elbow on Ryan Yates as the game ended 1-1. Forest will face their toughest test yet when they travel to play against EPL champions Manchester City on Saturday while Burnley hosts the other Manchester side at Turf Moor on the same day.
