BEVERLY HILLS, December 01 (THEWILL) – The Department of State Services, DSS, on Tuesday morning arrested the embattled former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), after laying siege on his Abuja home for over a month.
Sources say the DSS operatives ordered the former NSA out of his Abuja residence without any form of force to the DSS headquarters in the Asokoro District of Abuja.
THEWILL recalls that the secret police first arrested Dasuki in July after a prolonged siege on his Abuja home. He was subsequently dragged to court over allegations of illegal possession of arms and money laundering.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court however granted the plea of the accused for his passport to be released, to enable him receive treatment abroad.
However, the former NSA’s plan to travel was sabotaged by the DSS, which, on November 5 placed him under house arrest in his Abuja residence.
This is happening barely a day after Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, detectives arrested former Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda for allegedly receiving N1.5billion from the former National Security Adviser’s office for unclear reasons.
Also arrested on Monday were Shaibu Salisu, a former Director of Finance and Administration in the NSA’s office during Dasuki’s tenure, Sagir Bafarawa, Abbah Mohammed and Haliru Mohammed who are both the sons of ex-Governor Attahiru Bafarawa and ex-National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mohammed Bello Haliru.
