April 12, (THEWILL) — Inter Milan overturned a two-goal deficit to beat Como 4-3, with Marcus Thuram and Denzel Dumfries each netting twice to move the title contenders nine points clear of Napoli at the top of Serie A.
Cesc Fabregas’ side made a bright start and took the lead when Yann Sommer pushed Nico Paz’s low curling effort into the path of Alex Valle, who finished first time.
Paz doubled Como’s advantage nine minutes later, collecting a long throw from goalkeeper Jean Butez and slotting coolly past Sommer to put the hosts in control at the break.
Thuram reduced the deficit in first-half stoppage time, getting in front of his marker to poke past Butez.
The forward then levelled matters four minutes after the restart, chipping the goalkeeper from distance after a defensive mix-up left Butez stranded outside his area.
Dumfries put Inter ahead in the 58th minute, meeting Hakan Calhanoglu’s free-kick with a firm header.
The Dutch full-back added a second in the 72nd minute, bundling in from close range after a knockdown to put the visitors two goals clear.
Lucas de Cunha converted from the spot to give Como hope, and Jacobo Ramon rattled the crossbar deep in stoppage time, but the hosts could not complete a comeback of their own.
Inter’s nine-point cushion over Napoli leaves them firmly in control of the title race.
