November 30, (THEWILL) — Inter Miami claimed the Eastern Conference title with a dominant 5-1 victory against New York City FC at Chase Stadium, booking their first-ever appearance in the MLS Cup final. Tadeo Allende netted a hat-trick whilst Mateo Silvetti and Telasco Segovia added further goals in a comprehensive performance that brought the club’s third trophy.
The victory pushed Inter Miami’s combined regular season and post-season goal tally to 98 in 2025, breaking the single-season record in Major League Soccer history. Allende opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a powerful strike after latching onto Sergio Busquets’ long pass, then doubled the advantage 11 minutes later with a header from Jordi Alba’s cross. Justin Haak pulled one back for the visitors before half-time, but the hosts maintained control throughout.
Silvetti restored the two-goal cushion in the 67th minute following Leo Messi’s assist, marking the Argentine captain’s 405th career assist and establishing him as the all-time leader in that category. Segovia extended the margin to 4-1 in the 83rd minute after converting Alba’s backheel pass, before Allende completed his treble late on with a composed chip over the goalkeeper.
Allende’s eight goals in this post-season campaign equal Carlos Ruiz’s 2002 record for most strikes in a single playoff run. Alba contributed five assists across the knockout rounds, whilst Messi recorded his seventh assist of the post-season and 28th in league competition this year.
As the team with the better regular season performance, Inter Miami will host the MLS Cup final on December 6 against Vancouver Whitecaps. This marks Florida’s first time staging the championship match. The fixture will be the club’s 58th across all competitions in 2025, setting a new benchmark for matches played by an MLS side in a calendar year.
