December 04, (THEWILL) – Inter Milan reclaimed top spot in Italy’s Serie A with an assured 3-0 victory away at current title holders, Napoli, on Sunday.

The triumph places Simone Inzaghi’s side two points clear of second-placed Juventus and 11 ahead of Napoli, who have managed only seven points on home turf from a potential 21.

The deadlock was broken on the stroke of half-time courtesy of a sublime Hakan Calhanoglu volley which arrowed into the bottom corner, leaving Napoli keeper Alex Meret grasping at thin air.

Nicolo Barella then doubled Inter’s advantage in the 61st minute, jinking past challenges before slotting home coolly. Marcus Thuram wrapped up the points with five minutes remaining, turning in Juan Cuadrado’s low cross at the back post.

In the second half, Victor Osimhen appealed unsuccessfully for a penalty following contact with Francesco Acerbi in the box. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also tested Sommer as the hosts searched for a route back into the match, but Barella’s strike knocked the stuffing out of them. Osimhen missed narrowly with a header, yet the points were safe once Thuram netted late on.
