Inter

December 18, (THEWILL) – It took just 11 minutes for Ivan Perisic to break the deadlock. The Croatian rose highest to head in Hakan Calhanoglu’s near-post corner. Inter dominated the majority of possession and a number of decent chances to put the game to bed in the first half, but they were unable to punish Vincenzo Fiorillo in the hosts’ goal.

However, soon after the half-hour mark, the visitors increased their lead. Denzel Dumfries’ first-time effort crashed off the bar but crossed the line before bouncing back out after Edin Dzeko delivered an inviting ball across the area into his path.

Alexis Sanchez scored less than ten minutes into the second half to put the game out of reach. The Chilean took possession on the halfway line and, following a series of fast passes between Dzeko and Calhanoglu, managed to slip past Salernitana’s befuddled back four to complete the play and score the third goal.

Lautaro Martinez scored Inter’s fourth goal in the 77th minute. He took advantage of some sloppy play inside the Salernitana box and slammed the loose ball into the bottom left corner from the centre of the penalty area, and Roberto Gagliardini added the fifth goal to complete the win.
