November 30, (THEWILL) — Alexander Isak broke his Liverpool duck in the English Premier League on Sunday, netting in a 2-0 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium. The Swedish forward converted on 60 minutes during his sixth league outing since his move from Newcastle United, helping Arne Slot’s side halt a three-match losing streak across all competitions.
Isak had earlier been denied by a superb close-range save from Alphonse Areola, who also kept out Florian Wirtz in a lacklustre opening period. The breakthrough arrived when Cody Gakpo supplied the pass for Isak to calmly finish into the bottom-left corner, leaving the hosts with no response.

Jarrod Bowen fired narrowly wide in a rare attacking moment for the home side, who failed to register a single shot on target throughout the 90 minutes. Gakpo then sealed the points in added time, firing home from eight yards after Joe Gomez delivered a cross from the right flank.
Liverpool climbed back to winning ways with a controlled performance, whilst West Ham were left to rue Paqueta’s dismissal and their inability to threaten the visiting defence. The result strengthens Slot’s position after recent setbacks and moves the Reds further up the table to 8th.
