July 04, (THEWILL) – The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has raised concerns over illegal admissions by some tertiary institutions in the country.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who raised the alarm, said the board has discovered over 3,000 individuals, who falsely claim to be university graduates.
Speaking during a meeting with the leadership of the Committee of Pro-Chancellors of State Universities (COPSUN), Oloyede, however, said the board has documented the cases and is working to address the issue of illegal admissions in tertiary institutions
“Some ‘graduates’ had never entered the four walls of a university owing to the endemic corruption in the system but the board had documented over 3,000 of such cases. Illegal admission of candidates into tertiary institutions in the country is an embarrassment and a disservice to the nation”, he said.
