March 03, (THEWILL) – Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party citing internal sabotage by party leaders as the reason for his departure.

Adediran, who was the PDP’s governorship candidate in Lagos State during the 2023 election, announced his resignation on Monday at his Ikeja office.

While he has yet to disclose his next political move, he stated that he and his supporters would engage with stakeholders before deciding on the best path forward for Lagosians.

Speaking on his decision to leave, Adediran accused PDP leaders of conspiring to ensure his defeat at the polls.

He alleged that some openly campaigned against him and the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

He recalled that days after the election, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, revealed on live television that PDP leaders actively worked against their own candidates.

Adeniran stated, “Hamzat mentioned names of party leaders who defected to support the APC, including the PDP Presidential Campaign Committee Chairman in Lagos, Adedeji Doherty.

“Till today, none of those mentioned have denied the claims. Instead, they continue to parade themselves as PDP leaders.”

THEWILL recalls that Adediran, originally a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), joined the PDP in January 2022 to contest the party’s governorship ticket.

He ran alongside Nollywood actress Funke Akindele as his deputy but finished third in the election, which was won by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Labour Party’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour secured the second position.
