July 05, (THEWILL) – An Akwa Ibom State man, John Obot, is set to break the Guinness World Record with his reading marathon.

The book enthusiast will embark on a reading marathon that would last for 145 hours in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Obot has already applied to the Guinness World Record and received approval for the record attempt.

According to him, the reading marathon will take place from September 9 to 15, 2023.

If his attempt is successful, Obot will surpass Rysbai Isakov, the current title holder for the longest reading marathon.

In 2022, Rysbai spent 124 hours reading, and his reading marathon took place in Bursa, Turkey, from 22 to 27 September 2022.

Obot took to his Facebook to post the mail he received from the Guinness World Record, which approved his application for the record attempt.

According to him, he is using the opportunity provided by the reading marathon to create awareness on the importance of reading.
