July 09, (THEWILL) – Hollywood star, Johnny Depp, is making a comeback to the screen, as he features as a French king in the movie La Favorite.
The actor has been embroiled in a defamation suit with his ex-wife, Amber Heard, which lasted a few months and affected his career.
The film will be his first film project since Heard’s domestic violence accusation.
Bloomberg reported that Netflix signed a deal to stream the film in France 15 months after its theatre release.
The movie is not a Netflix original, so it is not being funded by the streaming platform.
Depp’s lawsuit against his ex started in April and ended in June with the actor’s victory.
