April 29, (THEWILL) – Matt Judge, Manchester United’s Director Of Football Negotiations, has quit, signalling even more change at Old Trafford ahead of next season.
In recent months, United’s long-serving executive vice chairman, Ed Woodward, stepped down, to be succeeded by new chief executive, Richard Arnold, who was promoted from inside.
Senior scouting heads, Jim Lawlor and Marcel Bout, have also recently resigned, while football director John Murtough and technical director, Darren Fletcher, have just been in their jobs for a little over a year following a change in early 2021.
The team has also undergone a management transition, with Erik ten Hag replacing current interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
Judge has been in charge of negotiating trades and contracts at United for the past eight years, starting in the summer of 2014. However, 90min understands that Murtough’s ambitions for a new structure within the club have not convinced him.
Judge is still well-liked at Old Trafford, but he does not expect he will be included in the new long-term plans that have been offered. He will serve a notice period before departing later this year, but he has not been placed on gardening leave as of yet.
Judge joined the club in 2012, after studying at the University of Bristol with Woodward in the early 1990s before going into investment banking.
