March 22, (THEWILL) – Paulo Dybala will leave Juventus when his contract expires at the end of the season, according to Maurizio Arrivabene, the club’s CEO.
Dybala has been in talks about new terms for some months, and his future has become increasingly uncertain in recent weeks.
On Monday afternoon, it became clear that the Argentine had turned down Juve’s latest contract offer and will depart the club in the summer.
Arrivabene confirmed this, explaining: “The most important change is the one you talked about today. Juventus did not renew with Dybala: this is the change that has taken place from October to today.
“With the arrival of Vlahovic the technical aspect, the team and the project have changed. Part of those changes relate to Dybala’s contract which has not been renewed today.
“Today’s meeting was friendly, very clear, respectful. On the part of Juve it was not easy to make a lower offer, and they were not very respectful towards Paulo. He spent 7 years with us, there is respect for him.
“The decision was made, we thought about it a lot, but I want to underline one thing: the management of Juventus does not make decisions against Juventus, but for Juventus.”
In Turin, Dybala will be remembered as a great player. He moved to Juventus from Palermo in 2015 and has since helped the team win a slew of trophies.
Between 2016 and 2020, Dybala helped Juventus to five consecutive Serie A titles, as well as reaching the Champions League final in 2017 — when they lost 4-1 to Real Madrid despite a wonder goal from Mario Mandzukic.
