November 15, (THEWILL) – Former France midfielder, Paul Pogba, has parted ways with Italian football giants, Juventus, following mutual agreement to terminate his contract. The decision comes after his suspension for failing a doping test in September 2023, where traces of DHEA, a testosterone-boosting substance, were detected in his system.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced Pogba’s initial four-year suspension to 18 months in October, with the ban set to conclude in March. The 31-year-old athlete plans to continue his training in Miami while seeking opportunities with potential clubs following the completion of his suspension period.
Juventus released an official statement saying: “The club wishes Paul all the best for his professional future.” Pogba responded with gratitude, stating: “It has been a privilege to pull on the shirt of the Bianconeri and to share so many special moments together. I cherish the memories we made. They live on.”
The World Cup winner’s return to Turin from Manchester United proved challenging, with injuries restricting him to just 162 minutes across five appearances during the 2022/2023 season. His final contribution to the Italian side consisted of 51 minutes through substitute appearances before the suspension took effect.
The midfielder, whose original contract extended until June 2026, reportedly accepted significant wage reductions during his period of ineligibility. His departure marks the conclusion of his second spell with the Italian club, where he previously experienced considerable success between 2012 and 2016.
