July 18, (THEWILL) – The transfer move surrounding Matthijs de Ligt, a Dutch central defender, is nearing conclusion as Bayern Munich and Juventus have reached an agreement.
De Ligt joined the Italian powerhouse in 2019 after playing a key role in Ajax’s run to the UEFA Champions League semifinals. Although he started out behind Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Cheillini in the starting XI at Turin, De Ligt quickly made his mark and was impressive in the backline.
Both teams verbally agreed to the transfer terms for the 22-year-old on Sunday night, in which Bayern is expected to pay over €80 million to sign him, with €70 guaranteed and €10 in add-ons on a five-year contract. What is left is a medical and an official confirmation of the success of the move.

De Ligt was impressed with the proposal that Bayern’s Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic and Julian Nagelsmann, the head coach, presented to his representatives and is convinced that Bayern is the better place for him to continue his professional career.
