July 28, (THEWILL) – Italian football titans, Juventus and AC Milan, engaged in an enthralling pre-season friendly at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, on Thursday.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw after an eventful full-time play. German defender, Malick Thiaw, opened the scoring for Milan in the 23rd minute with a powerful header from a well-placed free-kick by Theo Hernandez. Juventus responded ten minutes later when Danilo profited from a goalmouth scramble to score the equaliser. Milan reclaimed the lead before half-time as Thiaw’s header found Olivier Giroud, who executed a superb volley on the turn.
Juventus once again fought back, with Federico Chiesa’s free-kick deflected off Giroud and finding the back of the net. The game was ultimately decided by penalties, with Juventus emerging victorious after their backup keeper, Carlo Pinsoglio, made three crucial saves.
Though the intensity of the game waned in the latter stages due to numerous substitutions, it remained an engaging spectacle for the spectators in attendance. Following the gripping clash, both teams will wrap up their summer “Soccer Champions Tour” with matches against top Spanish clubs. AC Milan is set to face Barcelona in Las Vegas on Tuesday, while Juventus will face Real Madrid in Orlando on Wednesday.
Both teams will take away valuable lessons from the friendly, and their upcoming games against top Spanish opponents will serve as important tests ahead of the new season.
