August 25, (THEWILL) – Music artiste, Kingsley Okonkwo, better known as Kcee, has reacted to claims that he dumped Chigozie Okeke, also known as Ojazzy Igbonile, the young artiste behind his hit song, ‘Ojapiano’.
Kcee featured Ojazzy Igbonile, a traditional flute player in his song, ‘Ojapiano’, which was released a few months ago. Ojazzy Igbonile displayed exceptional skills by providing a traditional and capitulating element to the song, which became an instant hit after it was released.
A few months after its release, it was alleged that Kcee abandoned Ojazzy Igbonile and didn’t pay him handsomely for featuring in his song.
Reacting to the allegation in a recent interview with BBC Igbo, the singer made it known that he did not abandon Ojazzy Igbonile against the beliefs of many.
He added that he flew the boy from the east to a studio in Lagos after he saw him perform at a show and paid him more than he requested.
“I am deeply saddened by the way our Igbo people spread false news that I did not help the boy. It is not true.
“I saw the boy selling goods, called him, flew him to Lagos from the east, took him to the studio, paid him more than what I agreed with him, dressed him, called him and took him to different places in Lagos. How did I do it wrong?”
Stating further, he added that he was happy that the boy later made a video and informed the community that they were still chummy.
