April 03, (THEWILL) -In a dramatic game that saw both teams reduced to 10 men, Everton managed to salvage a point against Tottenham Hotspur in Monday night football.
Michael Keane proved to be the hero for the home side, scoring a stunning long-range strike in the 90th minute to level the scores. The defender’s goal secured an important point for the Toffees, taking them out of the relegation zone.
The game was largely uneventful until the 57th minute when Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure was shown a straight red card for pushing Harry Kane in the face off the ball. Tottenham took the lead soon after when Kane converted a penalty after Keane fouled Cristian Romero in the area.
The England captain’s goal looked set to give Tottenham a win in Cristian Stellini’s first game as interim manager since Antonio Conte’s departure. However, Lucas Moura was also sent off late on for a nasty challenge on Keane.
Despite the knock, Keane picked himself up and scored a stunning equaliser to send Goodison Park into pandemonium. The result sees Everton move up to 15th in the Premier League, while Tottenham climb to fourth on goal difference. Both teams will be in action again on Saturday. Everton will face Manchester United at Old Trafford, while Tottenham will host Brighton and Hove Albion.
