May 03, (THEWILL) – American actor cum director, Kevin Costner and his wife, Christine Baumgartner, are parting ways after 18 years.
According to People, Baumgarten has filed for divorce from her husband but no reason has been stated for her action.
“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired, which has resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.
“We ask that his, Christine’s, and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time,” Costner’s representative stated.
In November, Costner spoke fondly about his wife, “My wife does things that just completely helps. The house is prettier because of her. Everything is warmer because of her. There’s these little things that she does and I think it’s the power of love, but that she makes her home that way.”
The pair got married in 2004 and had three children together – Cayden, Hayes and their daughter, Grace.
Costner also has four older children from his previous relationship. His daughters, Annie and Lily, then Joe and Liam, his two sons.
This is Costner’s second marriage after his first marriage of 16 years to Cindy Silva, which ended in divorce in 1994.
