June 09, (THEWILL) –Â Big Brother Naija reality show star, Khafi Kareem Ekpata, also known as Khafi, has penned a lengthy message on her Instagram handle in remembrance of her late brother, Alexander Kareem.
Alexander Kareem died in 2020, as a result of gunshot wounds on his chest and abdomen.
He was shot dead at Askew road in Shepherd’s Bush, London, by a yet to be identified person after a trip to a convenience store.
Two years after his cruelsome murder, his sister penned an emotional note in his remembrance.
She lamented that his killers have not yet been found two years after his demise. She stated that the tragic incident has made her sensitive to any death news around her.
Stating further, she said she had tried to look for means to cope with her grief. She played a song in the video that accompanied her message which she reveals expresses how she feels and encourages her fans to listen to it.
She pleaded that if anyone still has information about his death, they should speak up as it is never too late.
“Today marks two years since my brother Alex was murdered in cold blood on the street of London. It feels so wrong to commemorate this kind of anniversary; wedding anniversary, birthdays are things to be celebrated and remembered, not a day of death.
“But two years on and still his murderers have not been found. This is not okay. It hurts me everyday and it’s not getting easier, I just find better ways to suppress my grief as times goes on. But anytime it arises, it’s like a dagger to my chest.
“It has made me so sensitive to any news of death, especially shootings like the one in Owo, Uvaide and particularly news of black boys dying endlessly. They trigger so much for me.
“So, I am dreading today. And if I had it my way, I would have buried my head in the sand and pretend that this is not my reality. I had three brothers and now, I only have two and the people responsible are walking the street. It makes me so angry.
“This song by my brother @kabiz_k expresses so much of how I feel, I couldn’t share. Please listen in memory of my brother Alex and all the fallen. Their death will not be in vain. And if you have any information on Alex’s death. It’s not too late to speak up.”
