May 11, (THEWILL) – Jurgen Klopp has offered his view of the difference the signing of Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland will make to the Manchester City side after the deal was confirmed on Tuesday.
The Liverpool manager agreed that Manchester City will improve even more now that Haaland has joined the club, but, similarly to the position of Pep Guardiola’s side, Klopp noted that City had never been a one-man show, and that this move would not change that.
As THEWILL reported on Tuesday, Man City announced that they have reached an agreement with Dortmund to bring the Norwegian wonder to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
After Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa, which kept them in the Premier League title chase with City this season, Klopp was asked about the transfer and if Haaland’s arrival will help City and he responded: “A lot. Good player.”
Then, he continued: “City was never and will never be a team that wins because of one player. They have a specific way to play, and I think Erling will all of a sudden realise that he will score a lot of goals at the second post where he just puts his foot on it. He will love that. He is a real beast.
“He was injured a couple of times at Dortmund but when he’s fit he’s a real beast. Unfortunately, he is a really good signing.”
Since joining Dortmund in January 2020, Haaland has scored 85 goals in 88 appearances. Prior to moving to Germany, Haaland had a successful year with Red Bull Salzburg, where he even scored against Liverpool in the Champions League.
