May 02, (THEWILL) – Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has been charged by the England Football Association after he allegedly made improper comments about the match official during a post-match media interview following their 4-3 win over Tottenham.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the FA said that Klopp has until Friday to respond to the charge. The statement also said that Klopp’s words “imply bias, and/or question the integrity of the referee, and/or are personal/offensive, and/or bring the game into disrepute.”
Klopp is expected to miss Liverpool’s upcoming games against Fulham and Brentford as a result of the charge. THEWILL recalls that Klopp admitted that the situation should not have happened and that it was due to the emotion and anger in the moment.
The German manager also explained the incident with the referee, where he was initially going to be given a red card, but it was later reduced to a yellow card. Yet, this is not the first time that Klopp has had a run-in with the FA. He previously served a one-game suspension in November after he was sent off by referee Anthony Taylor for confronting assistant referee Gary Beswick.
The FA had appealed against an independent regulatory commission’s decision to only fine him £30,000 in regards to his behaviour.
