April 28, (THEWILL) – Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has put speculation about his future to rest by announcing that he has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2026.

The German, who joined Liverpool in 2015, led the team to the UEFA Champions League title in 2019 and the English Premier League title a year later to mark a period of football dominance that he has wrought at Anfield.

This year, continuing in the same vein, the Reds are aiming for an unprecedented quadruple, sweeping everything in their path both at home and abroad.

Klopp’s current contract was slated to expire in 2024, and the former Borussia Dortmund manager had hinted that he would not extend it. However, The 54-year-old has since changed his mind and has agreed to stay with the club for another two years.

The news of a huge boost to Liverpool, who have already won the Carabao Cup and advanced to the FA Cup final this season, and are currently challenging Manchester City for the Premier League crown with a strong foot in the UEFA Champions League final.

As part of the announcement, Klopp suggested that his wife, Ulla, played a part in his decision, but confirmed his love for the club and his willingness to continue the beautiful work he and the team were doing. He also highlighted the fact that his team of coaches all agreed to stay on board as well.

Although contract extensions have already been signed by several key players, including Virgil van Dijk, that will ensure continuity across board, the club will hope that such long-term confirmation of Klopp’s management of the squad will help iron out issues regarding Mohamed Salah’s contract also.
