February 14, (THEWILL) – Leeds United will continue to be managed by Michael Skubala on an interim basis, the club announced on Tuesday.
The move comes after the recent departure of Jesse Marsch, who is reportedly close to joining Southampton. Leeds have been searching for a permanent manager, but failed in their attempts to sign Andoni Iraola of Rayo Vallecano and Arne Slot of Feyenoord, while they have decided not to pursue Alfred Schreuder, former manager of Ajax.
In a statement, Leeds confirmed that Skubala, along with Paco Gallardo and Chris Armas, will be leading the first team for the club’s upcoming fixtures. Skubala, Gallardo, and Armas have already overseen two strong performances against Manchester United and will be leading training ahead of this weekend’s match against Everton at Goodison Park.
Skubala expressed his excitement about the opportunity to continue as interim manager saying: “It is an honour to be on the touchline at this club. We will continue to work tirelessly to help push up the table in the short term, while the board focuses on the long-term future of the team.”
With Skubala at the helm, Leeds will be looking to build on their recent success and make a push up the English Premier League table.
