March 11, (THEWILL) – Leeds United fought back twice to a 2-2 draw against a high-flying Brighton and Hove Albion side to salvage a crucial point in their fight for English Premier League survival.
Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison both scored sensational strikes to rescue the draw for the hosts. But, Brighton took the lead in the 33rd minute when Alexis Mac Allister headed home after creative work from Karou Mitoma. Bamford equalised for Leeds just seven minutes later with a deflected shot that went beyond Jason Steele.
After the break, Harrison turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Solly March, giving Brighton the lead once again. However, he redeemed himself by scoring a stunning equaliser in the 78th minute.
Despite the draw, Leeds are still in the relegation zone, now in 19th place, after Bournemouth and Everton both registered wins on Saturday. They are only one point away from 17th and will be looking to climb out of the drop zone when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers next weekend.
Meanwhile, Brighton missed the opportunity to move into the top six, remaining in seventh place on 39 points. They will next host Crystal Palace.
